blogging with wordpressAs with any new concept or technology, blogging raises a number of frequently asked questions, usually concerning the various features and functions most blogs have on offer.  There's no need to feel overwhelmed by blogging technology, although you sometimes may feel that you simply can't make sense of the service.  Keep an open mind and experiment, and you should find your way through the blogging maze.

One of the most common questions asked about blogging is about privacy.  Can people find out personal or revealing information about you?  How safe is blogging?  Is it better to blog anonymously?  How do you know who to trust?  All of these questions are important, and unfortunately there are no definite answers.  Essentially, if you don't publish sensitive information, it is a lot harder for people to maliciously take advantage of you or your security.  Never publish banking details, for instance, and be wary of publishing your address, phone number or full name and birth date.  If you are particularly worried about your privacy, you can blog anonymously, though this is not foolproof especially if you blog about specific events or people.

Another common question asked about blogging is about comments and blog visitors.  Most blog services offer a comment feature which allows your readers to make short comments on each of your updates.  This is a feature which can generally be switched on or off.  Similarly, most services now allow you to keep track of your visitors (through site statistics), which should give you a better idea of who is reading your blog and how they have found  you in the first place.
